Sports Massage & Therapy

Sports Therapy includes a full assessment of your injury or pain area. The therapist will do a detailed medical history to help find the cause and allow for a thorough treatment plan.

The treatment involves the necessary techniques from clinical massage and soft tissue techniques, mobilisations, ultrasound therapy, taping, strength and conditioning, gait analysis and exercises.

Common issues they can assess:

  • Muscular
  • Speeds up injury recovery time
  • Improves circulation
  • Relieves stiffness and tension
  • Prevents injury
  • Breaks down scar tissue

Massage

Sports and remedial massage works with the soft tissue of the body such as muscles, tendons, and connective tissues. The therapist can use different techniques to reduce muscle pain, increase flexibility, improve your range of motion and re-balance your posture. It can work really well in conjunction with other therapies such as osteopathy and physiotherapy.

The benefits

  • Increases flexibility
  • Speeds up injury recovery time
  • Improves circulation
  • Relieves stiffness and tension
  • Prevents injury
  • Breaks down scar tissue

Mobilisations

These are a method used by the therapist to increase mobility in the joints and in turn reduce pain from your active movements. They are a pain-free technique to help improve blood flow to the area which also speeds up recovery in the area.

Ultrasound

Is a form of electrotherapy used by therapists to enhance the repair of tissue in a pain-free way. The electrical currents can break down scar tissue and increase blood flow to the area, similar to the benefits of massage.

The common treatment for:

  • Tendonitis
  • Bursitis
  • Muscle strains
  • Frozen Shoulder
