Massage Therapist/ Pilates Instructor
Bethan graduated from the University of Kent in 2012 with a BSc Hons degree in Sports Therapy, Health & Fitness. This covered a range of specialities including sports massage, injury rehabilitation and strength and conditioning. Beth joined the team at the Oast in 2014.
Whilst at university, Bethan gained a lot of hands on experience working in the Sports Injury Clinic at Medway Park. Here, she began seeing members of the public, examining and diagnosing injuries and providing the relevant treatment, rehabilitation and exercise prescription to help patients gain a full recovery back into sport or work.
Since graduating, Bethan worked for Sheppy FC as their Sports Therapist on match days and training sessions to provide sports massage, immediate pitch-side care, injury treatment and advice.She dealt with a lot of lower limb injuries at the ankle, knee and hip including ligament sprains and muscle strains.
Bethan also previously worked with a Chiropractor for over a year as a Deep Tissue Massage Therapist where she gained a lot of experience looking after many different people from children to the elderly. This expanded her knowledge of a large variety of spinal and muscular conditions relating to sport, work, stress or posture such as sciatica, frozen shoulder and whiplash. Bethan provided muscular relief predominantly for the neck, back and shoulders, using a range of techniques including deep tissue massage, stretching, trigger point therapy and myofascial release. She also educated and advised patients about nutrition, exercise and how to prevent the cause of their problem from reoccurring.
In 2015 Beth qualified as a a Pilates Instructor and now teaches regular classes at the Oast. Beth enjoys using Pilates to educate clients how to improve their strength and flexibility. She realises the importance of exercises in injury prevention.
