Angela Bates BSc (Hons)
Angela graduated from St Mary’s University College in 2005 with a BSc(Hons) in Human Biology & Health, Nutrition and Exercise. She then went on to work in the field of Public Health, initially as a Smoking Cessation Advisor and later going on to specialise in working with patients with mental health needs. It was during these later years that Angela became more aware of the wide-ranging benefits of talking therapies, mindfulness and relaxation exercises, not only for patients that were unwell but for anyone looking to reduce their stress levels and improve their wellbeing. She undertook qualifications in Counselling Skills and Studies in 2009 and 2010 respectively and completed her Meditation, Mindfulness and Relaxation Teaching Certificate in 2016.
I really enjoy working with people and meeting new people and feel privileged to have worked in different roles over the years that have allowed me to do this. I’ve often been humbled by the experiences that my patients have been going through and amazed at their strength and courage in deciding to try and overcome addiction and make other changes in their lives despite adversity. I’ve always strived to be understanding, kind and supportive and never underestimate the importance of being a good listener. It’s been great watching patients reach their goals and improve their wellbeing with new-found relaxation skills and I look forward to sharing this experience with new people in my role at the Oast.
Angela understands that everyone is individual and will respond to different therapies in a unique way, therefore the content of her courses is flexible so that it can be easily adapted to suit the needs of each course member.
Angela recently decided to have a career change and leave the world of Public Health for a new challenge. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming and taking long walks with her family as well as reading historical crime novels.
Angela is available in our Sittingbourne clinic.
